How much of armorcast is going to be about miniatures and how much is going to be about terrain?

Is the terrain catalog there to fund the miiniature efforts?

Will there be more terrain in the future?

Just curious.

Matt and Ginfritter have stated that they hope to eventually resculpt all the terrrain that was offered before except for the few pieces that they do not have the rights to. They have already begun to develop new items as well -- the Dropsip, and the Steam Buddha quickly come to mind.

The miniatures are an addition to the terrain line and IMHO will be a seperate but equal part of the total Armorcast Business Model. Personally I think it is a good thing. Matt and Ginfritter were doing things like this before they took on Armorcast and I am glad they are continuing to pursue them. If they put everything on the shelf and concentrated soley on terrain I would be worried that they would get burned out and resent the time the terrain was taking away from other projects. This way we all win. Matt and Ginfritter get to pursue several areas of interest and we get even more sculpted goodness to choose from.

I for one have no problems with either one of them continuing in the ventures that the two of them have been doing for the last few years...most of their minis have been either 1.) funny (the Dark Elf female with the stripper pole comes to mind), or 2.) good for the odd D&D character...Gin has also for several years now been the source for transfers for all kinds of minis, from historical (like my German WWII tanks) to sci-fi, here in the Cleveland area...

since they have been doing these things for so long now, those things are fairly well established and I wouldn't think that those things would be too much of a distraction from the business of Armorcast, plus they create a wide-ranging portfolio of products that all businesses need so that there is a fall-back in case of a decline in the primary market...

the one thing that seems to be a distraction from the business of terrain is the fact that the two of them have full time jobs outside of the business of Armorcast, since the Armorcast brand has only been in their hands for a short period of time that they have to continue doing the 9 to 5 for the time being to keep food on the table (and the two of them do like to eat, since starvation I would think would be bad for the creative process)...

Patience is what I would recommend for the immediate time being...with this being the convention season, they have both been very busy preparing for GenCon by casting like mad loons (I saw Matt last Friday...he didn't look good)...give the guys a few months to get the con season out of the way, then I would think that there would be more products on the terrain side coming out...

Oh, not getting impatient. It's not like I have more money to spend or anything.

I'm just a curious sort.

On a subnote, for those of us who remember when armorcast first got started up, there were actually quite a few different product lines. In addition to the terraform terrain line there were the battle tech models including both mechs and vehicles. There were also the generic armorcast vehicles along with the lisenced games workshop ranges.

You could pretty much say that armorcast was the forgeworld of the day when GW first hit the US. They made all the original super heavies like the baneblade and shadowsword. They also produced the only truly ork tanks like the gob smasha, spleen rippa, and the original war trucks. They produced all the original titans including the warhound, reaver, bio titans and even eldar titans. Not to mention the original falcon, and eldar tempest.

So I'd say that there is plenty of room in the armorcast product line for all kinds of models and minis. Besides lets give Matt and Gin some breathing room to get all the existing terrain back into production. There will be plenty of time for new stuffs. And speaking as one of the guys working on some of the new stuff it will be worth the wait.  Wink
