Sy, I feel your pain! I quit playing 40K because of the people around here!
I quit playing Fantasy because of the people around here!
I quit playing Wargods of Aegytus because of the people around here!
I quit playing Star Wars because of the people around here!

I guess you could call me a real people person! My group is smaller but MUCH better!

40k, 40k, and 40k.  For about 8 years solid now.

I've never even thought about slowing down.

I also enjoy the odd game of D&D, Starship Troopers, Battlefleet Gothic, Inquisitor, and Space Hulk.

Inquisitor? Nobody plays Inquisitor. That game is awesome! I have no idea why it never caught on. The figs were great. I still have my radical Xeno Inquisitor and his warband.

Locally Inquisitor died due to a total lack of terrian suited for the figs. We did run the occasional game in 28 mm but5 it wasn't the same.

Yeah, the terrain thing isn't very cool, but if you just imagine that shoebox is a lander and that hp printer is an imperial palace........

You know, I haven't seen anybody playing aeronautica yet.  I wouldn't mind giving that a go.

Until I win the lottery Aeronautica will have to stay on the cool but unlikely to own category.

you just bought and painted the figs...

the main reason I think that it never caught on is because it was such a departure from normal GW rules, that noone wanted to take the time to learn a new game that, due to GW's philosophy, they were just going to kick over to Forge World after 3 months anyway, just like Blood Bowl, BFG, Epic, Warmaster, Talisman, WH Quest, Mordheim, Necromunda (and any others that they have come out with)...

I think that this is the same thing that is dooming the LoTR game here in the states...the game is actually not bad, but it is too quick as far as combat resolution...the big thing is that GW has created a loyal group of fans that are so accustomed to everything being in exactly the same since they simplified 40K in '96 with 3rd ed...now, here is another game in which all of the stats are totally different than anything else the fanboys (and girls) are accustomed to, and because of that, no one is playing the game over here...the game is hugely popular in Europe, because of the wide diversity of games and genres available to players there, but here, there really are just 2 or 3 games (not counting the thousands of historical rules sets out there)...

the terrain was a big thing also...I know that I don't own anything taht big, and I only know a few people that mess with 54mm historical that have anything close to that size, but not enough to populate a game board like GW used in their pics...

anyway...that was a divergence...

IL2 Sturmovich. I'm a WW2 flightsim nut!!

The only 'wargamming' I do is RTS - Command and Conquer, Supreme Commander (if I can convince my computer to get off it's dead butt and actually run the thing!!). Simply dont have the patients for traditional wargamming - too many rules and such.

I am playing Victorian Science Fiction, to the exclusion of all else. For right now!

I've been gaming with this club since 1973. We've played most every period, and written our own rules for the period we're playing at the time. Graig Taylor had put some of our games in the public venue.

I'm hip deep into the VSF period right now, to the exclusion of all other gameing periods. I'm happy in my madness!!! I enjoy the challange of this new "period". All my historical gaming buddies have turned their backs on me, save one of my oldest friends, But there are soo many disgruntled GW gamers looking for something different to play, so I have no problem getting a game going.

As ever,

Hairy

Matt-

I play the following:

Warhammer 40K
WHFB
Battlefleet Gothic
MechWarrior
CAV

The latter two games are both in N scale (1/160), or at least approximately. While some of your terrain is already well suited to this scale, there's not much else commercially available (apart from model RR buildings), so it might be a target of opportunity for you.

Cheers,

Brent

Hello Everyone, I'm like most of you all. I play 40K, WHFB, Battlefleet Gothic, BattleTech RPG, Starship Troopers, and some Japanese fantasy RPGs. I do wish that I could find a lot of different stuff that is good looking and is not to exspensive, now that Armorcast is back it's a start.

My favorite was Battlefleet Gothic,
With "our house rule" about boarding parties is how I ended up in 40k
Imperial Guard of the Planetary Defence Force of Gryphone 4, Lisa, my girl, got into the "nids"
"our house rules" You need to play he FLUFF of your army; (no terminator assult marines with thunder hammer armies. "Fluff issues".
Hoping new codex makes them more competive and not just the "army" of the month
Starting an Ork army as I type this, leaning to a Blood Axe army type.  Fluff wise they would work as mercs. for the Imperium and
I like how the "deffkoptas" work, 15 of them with hit and run and turbo boost Grin and 2 hitz
D&D and Axis and Allies round out my group

I think this is a topic that should have it's own Armor Cast area
Something that a newbie would spot quickly and not lost in a old general discussion
may a poll that gets answered when a person signs up
